Pre-Algebra

 

Concepts offsets and subsets are explored. Introduction to variables, replacement sets and solution sets, solving equations by division, multiplication, addition, and subtraction, and solving equations involving two operations.

Grading: This course will be graded on daily attendance, thirteen days absent in a semester will result in No Credit, it is very important that you are in class everyday. Make up work can only be handed in for those days that are excused absences and must be turned in within two days after the absence. Make up work for the chapter will only be accepted until the day of the chapter test and is worth fifty percent of the total points earned. It is your responsibility to get the assignments that need to be made up from the teacher.

Grading Break Down:

Tests 40% Quizzes 30% Homework 20% Journal 10%

 

Required Materials:
Students are expected to have all of these materialseveryday!

1. A separatenotebook for keeping daily notes
2. Your textbook, kept in good condition. Do not write in the book!
3. Paper and pencil. ALL work is to be done in pencil. Mistakes should be erased.
4. A Scientific Calculator.

Behavior/Expectations
You are expected to attend class everyday with all materials and in your desk ready to learn when the bell sounds. Homework (with all work showing) is due at the beginning of the period the day after it is assigned. Opportunity time will be assigned if the work is not turned in on time! The classroom is to be a positive environment in which the education process can thrive. You are to work on the assignments for class and no others when time is given. Ample time is usually given for you to get the majority of the daily work done during class. Appropriate behavior is not being disruptive, paying attention to directions and explanations, being prepared for class with books, supplies or assignments, you are cooperative, doing your own work, participation in class activities and utilizing class time wisely.
School rules are to be adhered to throughout the day while at school. At present time this is your job in life, "to get an education." These expectations will be followed so that each student will have the best opportunity to achieve their greatest potential as a student.

What you can expect from your teacher
I will collect and grade your homework and return it to you, quizzes and test will be graded and kept. Quizzes can be taken utilizing your journals; tests will be taken without notes. Progress reports will be handed out periodically, if signed and returned you will be awarded one test score point for extra credit. I will be available for extra help before school everyday except Wednesday. I will allow each student (6) hall passes per semester.
